Fipster works together with merchandise companies, record companies, artist management and retailers to develop group buy offers. The aim is to provide a unique package of products and services relevant to fans – unique in terms of special limited editions, price offers, ex-tour merchandise, events, or specially manufactured items.
A minimum quantity is set for the offer to go ahead (in this case a minimum of 30 units). When the number of orders reaches this minimum amount the deal is “tipped” and the offer will proceed. Fulfilment is carried out either by fipster, or by the merchandise partner (for The Lines it is Toto Merchandising). When the offer is for an event or service, an electronic voucher is issued to each buyer, which can be redeemed later.
There is a strong social element to group buying and customers and fans are encouraged to give feedback, and it is a chance for artists and band members to get directly connected with their fans.
